Dolby Laboratories, Synopsys CEOs to Speak at AeA/Stanford Executive Institute SANTA CLARA, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—April 20, 2005— AeA, the nation's largest high-tech industry association, announced today that William Jasper, CEO and President of Dolby Laboratories, and Aart de Geus, CEO of Synopsys, will speak at the 2005 AeA/Stanford Executive Institute to be held on August 7-18. Each year, AeA selects two top CEO Guest speakers to share their insight and leadership perspectives with the more than 100 high-tech senior executives who attend the annual AeA/Stanford Executive Institute (SEI). CEOs are chosen because they are at the top of their game and key to the continued success of their companies. Past speakers have included Craig Barrett, Intel; Scott McNealy, Sun Microsystems; Andy Grove, Intel; Brian Halla, National Semiconductor and Richard Levy, Varian Medical Systems. The AeA/SEI is an intensive eleven-day executive education program designed to sharpen the business skills, strategy and leadership perspectives of experienced technology leaders. The Institute combines the expertise and resources of AeA and the world-renowned Stanford University's Department of Management Science and Engineering and Graduate School of Business. Since 1975, the Institute has developed the careers of more than 3,200 technology executives. William Jasper joined Dolby Laboratories in 1979 as Vice President, Finance and Administration. In 1981, Mr. Jasper became Executive Vice President, and in 1983 he was named company President. Over the last 25 years, he has led the company's successful transition from an analog audio pioneer to a digital entertainment company that has made consumers aware of just how good audio can sound. In recent years, Mr. Jasper has been leading Dolby Laboratories through another exciting transformation -- shifting from a company with a focus purely on audio to one that is widely recognized for its world-class expertise in both audio and video. Most recently, Mr. Jasper oversaw Dolby Laboratories' move from a private business to a publicly traded company, in what is already considered one of the top IPOs of 2005. Jasper received a BS degree in industrial engineering from Stanford University, and an MBA in finance from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Aart de Geus co-founded Synopsys in 1986 and, as Chairman and CEO, has expanded Synopsys from a start-up synthesis enterprise to a world leader in electronic design automation (EDA). He was made a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 1999 and received the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Industrial Pioneer Award for commercializing logic synthesis. In 2002, after transacting the largest merger in EDA history, Dr. de Geus was named CEO of the Year by Electronic Business magazine; and in 2004, Entrepreneur of the Year in IT for Northern California by Ernst & Young. Dr. de Geus is active in the business community as a member of the board of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG), the Electronic Design Automation Consortium (EDAC), and the Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA). He is also heavily involved in education for the next generation, having created in 1999 the Synopsys Outreach Foundation, which promotes project-based science and math learning throughout Silicon Valley.
